After 18 months of research and testing, Hublot, the Swiss watch maker released one of its most prized technical creations, the Oceanographic 4000 King Gold White
The 4000’s main selling point is its water resistance. The watche’s technical achievements are its ability to be taken down to a depth of 4000 meters (2.5 miles), hence the name Oceanographic 4000.
Hublot achieved this by using synthetic and extremely high quality materials.
• The case is made of grade 2 titanium
• The clock face crystal is made of a 6.5mm thick synthetic sapphire crystal
• The case is mixed in with King Gold. The reddish color of the watch is due to a mix of 18k gold with 5% of platinum.
• A 48 mm diameter case
The 4000 has been treated with a luminescent material. Its clock hands; which are enlarged, are treated with SuperLuminova, a material that emits a glowing white color, enabling visibility at a distance of 25 center meters from the eyes, even at 4000 meters below the surface of the sea.
With large dials on the right side of the body the watch can be handled even with gloves, quiet essential for divers.
Also, the 4000 comes with an extra-long wrist strap. This was due purposely to accommodate for the thickness of a divers suit.
In the end the Hublot Oceanographic 4000 king Gold White is not a watch for everybody. It was designed mainly for divers. Of course collectors will be interested as well but for the average buyer this watch is a pass.
This watch has a limited production of 100 pieces. No price has been released but it will definitely be high up on the price range.
