All though a fairly new company, Raymond Weil has established itself as one of the world’s finest watch makers.
The company takes its name from its founder Raymond Weil.

Weil, born in 1926 in Geneva Switzerland, joined the Geneva watch company at the age of 23. By 1976 when the watch industry was on a decline, Weil started his own company.

Raymond Weil used his experience to build his company over the years. Incorporating other family members into the company like his son-in-law, Oliver Bernheim. With an increased workforce both loyal and devoted, the Weil brand re-inspired the watch industry.
Weil marketed the brand along with cultural influences. Like their Amadeus collection released in 1983 along with the famous movie.
The Weil brand continued to adapt to changes in society, creating new and unique designs for both men and women.

1976: Raymond Weil creates the company
1982: Weil’s son in law joins the company (Oliver Bernheim).
1983: The Amadeus collection launched
1986: Othello collection released
1988: Traviata collection released
1991: Parsaifal collection released
1994: Precision Movements campaign consolidated with Raymond Weil
1996: W1 collection released
1999: The Celebrate the Movement campaign consolidated with Raymond Weil
2001-03: New Othello and Parsaifal collections
2006: Weil’s grandsons join the company (Elie and Pierre Bernheim)
2009: Ladies Noemia collection
2010: Maestro collection released

The Greatest contribution to the watch world that Raymond Weil has given is itself. The founder started the company at a time when the watch industry seemed to be dying out. The company proved that if you could create luxurious watches both unique and simple then you could survive. Weil watches are neither over the top in design nor bland and unoriginal. They can be worn anytime of the day and on any occasion, both formal or informal. The brands success proves that a watch company can be succesfull even if their watches are simple in design.

World’s Most Expensive Luxury Watches

Chopard watchesNow there’s luxury watches and then there’s extreme luxury watches.  Want to take a guess at the price tag on the world’s most expensive one for sale right now?  Don’t even bother…you won’t believe it anyway.  The most extravagant luxury watch on the market to date is the diamond encrusted Chopard, listed at a cool $25 million dollars.  While this watch boasts over 201 carats of pink, blue, and white diamonds, including a single 163 carat diamond…who is really going to walk around with this on their wrist?  Obviously, this is a showcase piece, but is all that opulence really necessary.  When half of America is out of work and struggling, do we really need to be so bold and brazen as to create a watch like this?  I guess the answer is yes, but I for one think it is rather ridiculous.  I want to own pieces with history and meaning, like the old blue dial Seiko watch that my dad used to wear.  I keep that piece tucked away safely in my jewelry box and if anything ever happened to it I would be crushed, but I wouldn’t be broke.  Choosing luxury watches should be more about taste than cost.

Cartier Watches Draw High Profile Clientele

The impression that most resonates with us about Cartier watches is success and opulence.  I guess that’s why the watch brand has always been hugely popular among celebrities and royalty.  Females, in particular are very fond of Cartier. 

Their watches have been worn by everyone from Princess Diana to Angelina Jolie.  Even Jackie O and the current first lady have sported a Cartier watch.  The Tank is one of the most recognizable designs in history and it seems to never go out of style. 

Since 1917, when the Cartier Tank was released it has seen many transformations, yet each one is met with a smile.  This classically elegant timepiece is one that women of supreme taste adore.  The Tank has a streamlined shape and can be as simple or as ornate as you like. 

The Cartier watch is always owned by discriminating women.  It is a signature piece, much like a long strand of pearls or a Burberry trench coat.  I suppose that is why it is so loved.  With a piece like this, you become attached.  It becomes much more than a simple timekeeping instrument, it turns into a treasured amulet.

Choose a Cartier watch for the heritage, but remember the quality, as well.

Cartier, Gotta Love Them

Cartier Shows The Love

The Cartier name has a way of evoking romance and passionate allure.  Their watch and jewelry creations are much desired, for their styling and delicate design.  With love in the air, Cartier is inspired to introduce their Love Collection.  The Cartier Love Collection is a line, of specially crafted pieces, which will be sold in all of their boutiques, for three days following Cartier’s Love Day Celebration.  This will be a worldwide campaign, and the proceeds will go toward charitable causes, which benefit children.  Cartier’s dedication to the arts, as well as humanitarian issues is commendable. 

The women’s Cartier Love Watch Collection is beautiful.  They come with bold round dials and slim leather straps.  The Love Collection is made up of timepieces, which have been crafted in 18 carat yellow gold, rose gold, and steel.  The look is modern and feminine.  The dials incorporate a new Screw motif, which is meant to symbolize the love between and man and a woman.  I love it when a Company, who has been so successful, for so long, gives back.  The pieces they produce have earned them a fabulous reputation, and their charitable spirit gains our respect.  Cartier is showing their heart, with their tribute to love.

Usher And His Cartier Ballon Bleu

There has always been a buzz around the Cartier name.  Hollywood royalty and musicians, alike have fallen hard for this luxury watch brand, so le’s drop some names.  One of the world’s most elegant actresses of today is, undoubtedly Gwyneth Paltrow.  She is well known for her fashion sense and her beauty and grace have landed her the illustrious position as the face of Estee Lauder.  Paltrow’s choice in timepiece is the Cartier Tank Americaine.  The sophistication and timeless beauty of this watch is the perfect match for Gwyneth’s graceful looks.

Movado Makes Some Smart Choices

Movado Boutique Business

As with all retailers, Movado’s business has taken a hit, during this tough economy.  These times have been witness to many Companies going out of business or making concessions in the way in which they do business.  Changing business tactics, such as more out sourcing or cutting corners is the way some retailers have dealt with the recession, but Movado is different.  This watch maker has integrity and staying power.  They have been affected as much as others, but Movado’s attitude has been to ride it out.  Of course, the Swiss watch company has had to make some strategic changes, but not in the quality of their products. 

Unlike many watch companies, who have always made most of their sales through third party retailers or on-line stores, Movado has always had a boutique retail business.  The Movado Boutiques are chic and cater to Movado watch and jewelry clients.  Each of the Movado specialty Boutiques featured not only watches and jewelry, but Movado accessories, as well.  While unique and special, the Boutiques were costing the Company close to $10 million dollars a year.  Closing the Boutiques is just smart business.  For now, only the flagship Boutique in Rockefeller Center will remain open, and Movado can concentrate on bringing us new and creative designs, through their on-line store and 31 outlets.  The bottom line is that Movado is still going strong.

Movado, Kenny Scharf Watches

Movado’s newest Artist Series Collection is a line of watches by graphic artist, Kenny Scharf.  Kenny’s mind holds quirky, colorful interpretations of timekeeping, and he masterfully displays those thoughts on the dials of Movado’s Artist Series watches.  Movado has a long history of working with renowned artists, to produce interesting creations.  There was even a time when Movado collaborated with pop art icon Andy Warhol.  The Kenny Scharf Artists Series Collection is made up of six uniquely styled pieces.  Each of the watches has a different graphic depiction.  All of the Kenny Scharf watches are beautiful in a unique and interesting way.  The collector’s edition timepieces are all Movado Swiss quartz movements, and all accurate and created with the craftsmanship which has made Movado famous.  The pieces are numbered and are produced in sets of 125 each.  The Artists Series watches are presented in a specialty box, and feature two interchangeable straps, each.  These watches are in high demand, and hard to find.  Since the closing of some of Movado’s specialty boutiques, they have been almost impossible to track down, but there is hope.  The Movado boutique at Rockefeller Center in New York has all of the Artists Series watch in stock, except for the “Time Flies” watch.  Call them to reserve your special piece of Movado history, soon.

Raymond Weil Boutique Opening

2010 will prove to be a very hectic year for the Raymond Weil Company.  These Swiss watch makers, and savvy businessmen are going for a global presence this year, and will stop at nothing to get their name noticed.  Already having a solid 10 year relationship with China, Raymond Weil will attempt a point of growth sales increase from 88 to 135, by the end of 2010.  Opening new boutiques in the most important commercial hubs the country has to offer, will push these efforts forward.  Expanding their brand awareness in Saudi Arabia will also play a key factor for the luxury watch makers.  In March of this year, RW opened a specialty boutique in the heart of the city of Al Khobar.  The bustling Al Rashid shopping center is the location of this latest boutique, and may prove to be one of the most popular and successful.  Their courageous expansion efforts in China, The Middle East, and India are certain to give the Raymond Weil brand name a boost in recognition, and the media coverage they are receiving won’t hurt, either.  Raymond Weil is not sitting in a corner, waiting to be noticed…they are demanding attention, and it’s paying off.  In a time, where other watch makers are struggling, Raymond Weil is striving and thriving.

See TAG Heuer On The Big Screen

Jason Bourne Sporting A TAG Heuer

First and foremost, TAG Heuer is a watch making company.  They have earned a legendary reputation for their innovativeness and dedication to timekeeping.  Creating the most accurate chronographs in history and developing inventions, which were patented, and still in use today by many fine watch companies.  They obviously have strong ties to the Formula One racing world, but did you know that TH has a presence in Hollywood?  As early as 1960, TAG Heuer was working on the development of the, now famous TY Film Master stopwatch.   The Film Master was designed to give Hollywood directors the ability to track how much of their film footage had been used in a particular filming sequence.  These innovations for the film industry gave TAG Heuer a place on the big screen.  Today, the avant-garde watch maker has a presence in the filming of many great movies.  In “Good Luck Chuck” starring Dane Cook and Jessica Alba, Dane is wearing a TH Monaco Chronograph.  In Jodie Foster’s film, the “Brave one”, her character sports a TAG Heuer Twin-Time Carrera, and in “The Bourne Ultimatum”, the famous character which Matt Damon plays, wears a TAG Heuer Link Chronograph, featuring a blue dial.  This huge screen presence is evidence of the respect that actors and directors have for the TAG Heuer name.
